Books to the National Library of Latvia
On october 23, Honorary Consul of Colombia in Latvia Mr. Roberts Binde at the request of the Colombian Ambassador, presented to the Latvian National Library books collection of famous Colombian novelist and story writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Executive director of Latvian National Library Ms. Dzintra Mukāne was grateful for the gift and improvment of the library collections.
Gabriel Garcia Marquez is considered as one of the most significant authors of the 20th century, he was awarded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature. Gabriel Garcia Marquez started as a journalist, and wrote many acclaimed non-fiction works and short stories, but is best known for his novels, such as "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "The Autumn of the Patriarch", "Love in the Time of Cholera" and "No One Writes to the Colonel ". These and other books translated into English now are available for library visitors.
Latvian national library receives books from Honorary Consulate of Colombia in Latvia not for the first time, all presented books are exhibited in the hall of readers and are available for visitors.
